This is a chef web site that I stumbled upon. They have some great articels for chefs wanting to own a sustainable resturant with easy tips for them to follow. It is always great to have a resource with something that you can just print off and give to people.

Now this company is in the UK, but I love it and wish we had something similar in the states. It is just cool to browse the site and see what the rest of the world is doing in the Sustainable Market, and this web site covers all the catogories.

Recycled cigarette butts

Smoking is injurious to health. But it does help make beautiful rugs too! Here’s a rug made out of cigarette butts. Created by Puerto Rican artist, Jesus Bubu Negron, this rug is a masterpiece of recycling. The artist got a handful of street cleaners to pick up and collect cigarette butts shamelessly tossed on streets and with the help of a few helpers, created this piece of art.

This sustainable chair is diminishing the environmental impacts by using all biodegradiable materials in the production. The seat of this chair is produced from finnish linen and corn starc. Making them totally (100%) biodegradable. The difference between natural composite fibre and other natural fibres is that it doesn‚ contain any inorganic materials, not even binding substances. Material is not at all oil based. Due to the material choice of the seat, environmental impacts are diminished when considering the whole life cycle of the chair, from the production of the seat until dispose.

Of the many benifets to the enviorment this chair is also has ergonomics and is durable for public spaces. Easy to clean and is warmer than seating on cold plastic.

At the end of the life cycle, the seat can also be demolished by burning or composing it naturally over time. The steel frame of the chairs are chromed or matt chromed steel tube. This steel frame can be recycled by using it as raw material for the production of stainless steel.

Ecolect

I found out about this website from neocon last year. The producer of the site was explaining how in the design process he had been trying to find a green product that would work for his design idea. During his search he reliezed thier were now easy sites that had sample and a search database for all materials. The site is very user fiendly and is always being updated. You can also request sample and add to the database yourself.
